About this print
Crocus is a low picture, taken at the height of the flowers themselves, so the short grass reads as a green field and the blooms sit in it like scattered cups. The violet is deep and even, and each open flower shows a flash of orange stigma at its centre, which is the only warm colour in the frame and does a lot of work. It is a cheerful piece without being sugary, well suited to a kitchen or a child's room. Its violet also makes it a quiet partner for the lavender and hyacinth pieces. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
