About this print
Dark Ground Amethyst takes the same idea a shade gentler: the surround is charcoal rather than true black, so the stone sits in the frame instead of floating in it. The violet is even and slightly cool, deepening where the points meet and lifting at the tips, and there is enough grey in the image for it to sit comfortably beside other artwork. That makes it a more forgiving choice than a full black ground, particularly in a bedroom where you want depth without a hole in the wall. It works well with grey, walnut and soft warm light. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Materials and sizes
