By Table VII the figure is pared back to the deep muscles that run along the spine and bind the shoulder blades, and the backbone becomes the strong vertical of the whole page. Jan Wandelaar kept the pose constant from plate to plate, so the series reads almost like frames of a slow reveal, and gave this one a background of old masonry, shrubs and rocks. Albinus's atlas was published in Leiden in 1747 and set the standard for anatomical illustration well into the next century. The Wellcome Collection's public domain copy is the source. Hung beside the other back views it makes a striking sequence. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
