About this print
Table XXIV lines up the lower leg in a series of upright studies, the tibia and fibula with one muscle after another drawn along them, and the calf muscles shown full and heavy in the centre of the sheet. Small views of the foot and ankle fill the gaps, each numbered, so the plate works as both catalogue and composition. It comes from Albinus's Tabulae sceleti et musculorum corporis humani, published in Leiden in 1747 with plates by Jan Wandelaar, and the Wellcome Collection's copy is the public domain source. Its tall verticals suit a narrow wall beside a door. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
