The lake in the new Central Park is packed: couples hand in hand, children in a line, a man pushing a woman along in a skating chair, and in the foreground a skater tumbling backwards with his hat rolling away. Winslow Homer, then a young illustrator a few years before he turned to painting, drew the scene, and J. H. Bufford of Boston published it in 1861 as a colour lithograph finished by hand. The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds this impression and releases it into the public domain. Its bright costumes and gentle comedy make it a happy fit for a living room or kitchen. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
