Table I of the skeleton sets the tone for the whole atlas: an upright figure, weight on one leg, arms open, posed in front of trees and a hillside as calmly as a portrait sitter. Bernhard Siegfried Albinus, professor of anatomy at Leiden, spent years on the drawings with the artist Jan Wandelaar, who engraved the plates, and the book was published in Leiden in 1747. Wandelaar's backgrounds were the novelty, putting the figures into a living landscape instead of a blank page. The Wellcome Collection in London holds the copy scanned here, released under a Public Domain Mark. In warm sepia line on toned paper it reads as fine engraving first and anatomy second. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
