Four rows of six frames follow a man in a boater, jacket and trousers as he walks, then lifts and swings his cane and bag, the camera catching each moment against a ruled backdrop. Eadweard Muybridge made the sequence at the University of Pennsylvania between 1884 and 1886 with a bank of electrically triggered cameras, and published it in 1887 in Animal Locomotion, the eleven volume survey of people and animals in motion that changed how artists and scientists saw movement. The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds the plate and releases it as public domain. The grid of small figures reads beautifully from across a room. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
