The parasol starts furled at her side, then lifts, opens and turns as she walks, so its white disc moves round the frame like a small moon while the long dress catches the light. Against the near black backdrop every frame reads clearly, which gives the plate a calm, almost theatrical quality. Eadweard Muybridge made the sequence between 1883 and 1886 at the University of Pennsylvania and published it in Animal Locomotion in 1887; this print is a collotype. The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds it and releases it into the public domain. It suits a quiet bedroom or landing wall. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
