The white coat glows against the black backdrop, so every change of leg in the trot is easy to follow along the top two rows, and the bottom row turns the camera round to watch the horse moving away. Eadweard Muybridge photographed it at the University of Pennsylvania between 1884 and 1886 and published it in the horses volume of Animal Locomotion in 1887. The contrast gives it a quieter, more atmospheric feel than most of the series. The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds the plate and releases it into the public domain. Its long shape suits the wall above a desk or a sideboard. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
