Original artwork
The great pine of Karasaki looms as a dark mass through a curtain of night rain, the lake flat and pewter-blue beneath. One of the most atmospheric images Hiroshige ever designed.
This is an original piece printed in its own fixed palette, so there are no color options.

Rain is the whole surface of this image, combed down the sheet in fine gray strands, and the ancient pine reads through it as a single soft silhouette with a shrine roof just visible at its edge. Evening rain at Karasaki is one of the Eight Views of Omi, the classic cycle of Lake Biwa scenes, and Utagawa Hiroshige's treatment is famous for how little he needed to show. The woodblock print comes from the Met's open-access collection and is now in the public domain. It is a deeply calm, grown-up image: hang it in a bedroom, a study, or a living room that runs to gray and navy. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic molded gallery frame in your chosen color finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colors.
