Composed across three joined sheets, the design reads as one long wall of mountains, their flanks smoothed into deep drifts while the river cuts a nearly black channel below. There is almost no colour, which is the point: white on white, with the water and a few buried pines holding all the depth. Utagawa Hiroshige designed this view of the snowbound Kiso Gorge, and the woodblock print comes from the Met's open-access collection, now in the public domain. Its panoramic format wants a wide wall, over a sofa, a bed, or a long sideboard, and it cools a room the way an open window does in January. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
