A small songbird with slate-blue wings grips a bough of weeping cherry, cream blossoms hanging around it and a poem brushed down the side. A gentle bird-and-flower study.

The branch swings through the sheet in one calligraphic curve, and the bird leans into it, russet-cheeked and alert, as if it landed a moment before you looked. This is Hiroshige in his bird-and-flower mode, quieter and more intimate than the famous landscapes, with the verse worked into the design as part of the composition. Utagawa Hiroshige's woodblock print comes from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's open-access collection and is now in the public domain. On its soft paper tones it behaves almost like a neutral, lovely in a bedroom, a bathroom, or the slim wall of a landing. Frame it simply and let the curve do the work. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic molded gallery frame in your chosen color finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colors.
