The offender is drawn as pure silhouette, sticky trails streaming from his hands and feet as he marches across the open pages, and the lowercase plea underneath keeps a straight face: don't gum up a book. Arlington Gregg designed it for the Illinois WPA Art Project in Chicago between 1936 and 1940, one of a series of library etiquette posters, and his cartooning gives the scold real charm. The Library of Congress acquired this silkscreen for its WPA Poster Collection, and it is now in the public domain. It was made to hang where children read, and it still belongs there: a kids' room, a study, or the hallway outside either. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper using archival pigment inks (giclée process). Framed prints use a classic moulded gallery frame in your chosen colour finish; the glazing is shatter-resistant acrylic. Made to order for you, in your colours.
