About this print
The design compresses a whole park system into a few emblems: a round-headed tree, a big cat behind bars, the tower of a suspension bridge, and ripples of green water, all held in one tight vertical stack. It announced a parks exhibition at the International Building, Rockefeller Center, admission free, and it dates from 1936, the first years of the Federal Art Project's poster division. The two-green palette on cream is as restrained as anything the WPA workshops produced. The Library of Congress preserves the silkscreen in its WPA Poster Collection, now in the public domain. It suits an office or hallway that likes its graphics quiet and its lines clean. Printed to order at gallery scale in its own fixed palette.
